In 1999, his Paint stallion
Doc’s Starbuck was in the Top Ten at the World Champion Show in Fort
Worth. That year, Doc finished his showing as reserve Honor Roll in Open
Reining, only 1 point away from tying the leader! Doc was a NRHA money
earner and was also shown to a Superior in Reining and ROM in working
cowhorse by Mark before his untimely death in 2003.

One Gun and
Shesa Lil Cutter, owned by Mary Jansma of Cambria, Wisconsin were
trained by Mark. Shesa Lil Cutter earned an APHA Superior Reining and Gun
earned a ROM in reining (20 points) and both placed in the Top Ten
at the World Champion Show.

Mark
has also trained exceptional
Quarter Horses. Such as
Son A Lena CT, who is nearing his $10,000 earnings mark in the
NRHA. He has also won over $1000 in the AQHA Incentive Fund and
$1000 in the NCHA.

Sparkin
Hot Skidmark, a registered Quarter and Palomino owned by Debbie
Honeycutt of Crossett, Arkansas won the Reserve
World Champion Open Reining in 2004 and was the winner of the 2003
Dixie National NRHA Freestyle plus being an AQHA point earner and
NRHA money earner.

Morgan
horses and Mark have also been a good combination. Mark’s first
World Championship title was on board Atakapa Beautee in 2001. Owner
Damon Odom of Farmerville, Louisiana put together another winning
combination in 2005 with a reserve world championship on Atakapa
Waushau.
Additionally at the 2005 event, Heartquest Erin owned by LeRoy
Stockton of Exeter, Missouri was Reserve World Champion in Snaffle
Bit/Hackamore and Reining plus Stockton’s Heartquest Rachel was
World Champion Snaffle Bit/Hackamore. |

In addition to World
Champion titles, Mark has earned numerous year end awards in state and
regional clubs, 13 NRHA Pewter Trophies and 1 NRHA Morrison Trophy. He
is the current president of Louisiana Reining Horse Association and
offers a clinic twice yearly for youth and non-pro riders. Mark has also
passed his NRHA judge’s test and hopes to complete those requirements
soon so he can begin judging shows.
With
Mark’s current breeding program featuring his stallion,
Playguns Playboy. Mark will continue to train and ride the good ones
into the winner’s circle.
